FSISD to return to face-to-face instruction only

The Fort Stockton Independent School District will be returning to 100% face-to-face instruction for the 2021-2022 school year. Remote online instruction has been discontinued for the upcoming school year in accordance with state lawmakers’ decisions.

Classes begin at 8 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 16.

The decision was discussed at the July 26 Fort Stockton ISD school board meeting and is effective immediately.

The Fort Stockton Spring City Boys hosted the Los Yonke Gallos De Marfa in an adult summer league baseball game on July 17 at Blue Sox Field in Rooney Park. The game was organized by the nonprofit group, Texas Water Trade, which is spearheading the Comanche Springs restoration in collaboration with the City of Fort Stockton. The event was put on in part to raise awareness of the springs and the long-term plan to restore flow of the springs year-round. Individuals who participated in the game for Fort Stockton included: Dustin Lopez, Jordan Dominguez, Jason Williams, RJ Bernal, Isais Rojas, Adam Marlee, Fabian Zorilla, Alec Racides, Angel Marquez, Gama Corral, Orlando Racides, Saul Talavera. PCMH staffing issue an ‘anomaly’

The Pecos County Commissioners Court met in a joint special session with the Pecos County Memorial Hospital Board and hospital officials on July 21 to discuss numerous items such as staffing issues, as well as personnel recruiting.
