Juan Manuel Johnny” Cordero, 71, went to be with our Lord Jesus Christ on Jan. 12, 2022. Johnny was born to Jose Maria (Joe) Cordero, Jr. and Gregoria Ramos Cordero on Oct. 2, 1950.

He attended school in Fort Stockton, Texas, and received his bachelors degree from Midland College.

Powerlifters begin season in Monahans

A young Fort Stockton powerlifting began their season on a high note in Monahans, competing against the Loboes and Marfa.

Head coach Jeremy Boatright said his group put forth a tremendous effort and see plenty of room for growth this season.

Substandard property identified as historic Butz home

The City of Fort Stockton Substandard Building Committee met for its regular meeting on Jan. 6. The mission of the committee is to promote the welfare of citizens by securing, repairing, or demolishing structures that are deemed unfit for habitation or hazardous to the public.
1508 W. Division has been discovered to be the old Butz home on Rio and Division. Fate has drastically changed for this substandard building, which was at risk of demolition. Photo by Jeremy Gonzalez
