City settles freeze utility debt

Nearing the one-year anniversary of last year’s freeze in February, the City of Fort Stockton came to an agreement with West Texas Gas Marketing LLC for a utility rate spike that left the city with a $754,091.30 bill from last year’s catastrophic weather occurrence.

A secondary company for aerial hunting and game management could be in the county’s future come the end of this year. The Pecos County Commissioners Court discussed the 2020 Agreement for Helicopter Services with Trans-Pecos Aviation LLC at a special workshop held on Tuesday, Feb.

Panthers stun Greenwood, claim first district win

As the saying goes, revenge is a dish best served cold.

The Fort Stockton boys basketball team was defeated by Greenwood on the Rangers home floor on Jan. 14 by the score of 73-45. The Panthers were able to avenge that loss at the Special Events Center on Feb. 1, scoring a season-high point total in a 71-61 victory over the Rangers (17-7). The victory marked their first district win of the season.

Nelda Jean Ledford

Nelda Jean Ledford left us on Jan. 25, 2022, at the age of 88, to live in glory with her Heavenly Father.

Nelda was born on Dec. 16, 1933, in Forsan, Texas, to Myrtle Coffman Spears and though her biological father was Cecil Coffman. She was raised by Jim Spears, whom she called Dad.
