New FFA officers appointed

The 2024-25 Fort Stockton FFA Officers were recently elected by their peers. The new officers include President: Andrew Black, Vice President: Madison Hanson, Secretary: Brenna Downing, Treasurer: Daniel Perez, Reporter: Michaela Davis, Student Advisor: Isabela Chavez, Advisors: Crystal Galindo and Juan Vasquez.

Keep Historic Fort Stockton Beautiful awards art contest winners

Each year, the Keep Historic Fort Stockton Beautiful board of directors holds an annual art contest for fourth and fifth graders from the Fort Stockton Intermediate School. Students are awarded first, second, and third-place ribbons, with the first-place art piece being transferred onto a magnetic strip to be displayed on the city’s sanitation trucks. This year’s contest was held on May 8.

Youth health clinic scheduled in June

Fort Stockton Athletics, with Pecos County Memorial Hospital District (PCMHD), hosted free physicals for students within Fort Stockton Independent School District (FSISD). Over 90 students took advantage of this generous opportunity. Coaches from Fort Stockton high school and middle school ensured that parents were prepared to complete their students’ supplemental forms, while student athletic trainers ensured all documentation was filed accordingly.

The library continues to be a busy place, the Consulate of Mexico will be in Fort Stockton at the Library on Saturday, May 18. The Mobile Consulate issues certified copies of birth certificates for people born and registered in any part of Mexico. They also provide services of passport issuance, consular registration, civil registry and visas certification. Call 424309-0009 to make an appointment. Lee Hoy has made his childhood dream of being a wildlife photographer come to life, having visited these islands more than six times since he embarked upon the journey from dream to reality.
