Grid operator restores more power overnight

The Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) stated on Wednesday, Feb. 17 in a news release that they continue to restore power as quickly and safely as possible. During the overnight hours, ERCOT was able to restore approximately 3,500 MW of load, which is roughly 700,000 households.

"We know millions of people are suffering," said ERCOT President and CEO Bill Magness. "We have no other priority than getting them electricity. No other priority."

3,000 households lose power in Pecos County as frigid temperatures force outages

A total of 3,000 households in Pecos County lost power on Monday, Feb. 15 according to Pecos County Emergency Management Coordinator Jessie Dominguez.

The outage was due to historically low temperatures that forced the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) to start rotating outages at 1:25 a.m. Monday morning across the state.

Dominguez also noted that local electric companies are not at fault for the outages as the rotating outages were solely decided by ERCOT.

Fort Stockton woman dies in rollover crash

Body

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported on Sunday that a 40-year-old Fort Stockton woman died in a rollover accident on Friday, Feb. 12 on U.S Highway 67 at mile marker 810 – 26 miles northeast of Fort Stockton.

Lorena Ramirez was pronounced dead at the scene of the single-car crash that happened at 6:55 a.m.

Student selected as All-State musician

Audrey Gonzalez, a senior member of the Fort Stockton Pride of Pantherland Band, has earned the honor of being named a Texas AllState Musician. Despite the many challenges encountered throughout this school year, 2021 AllStaters remained committed to their personal musical development. They demonstrated the very perseverance and dedication that ongoing participation in a music program fosters.
