Williams displays talents on links, diamond

Fort Stockton multi-sport standout Alex Williams had his talents on full display this past week, competing at the Andrews Spring Tournament on Friday and Saturday.

The senior took to the links one day after pitching a two-inning no-hitter for the Fort Stockton baseball team in the Panthers opening game of the Levelland Linedrive Classic against Perryton.

King avenges loss, Villarreal garners silver medal

Fort Stockton tennis standout Colton King put on another superior performance on Friday, March 5 at the Odessa Permian Invite.

While the No. 1 boy’s single player for the Panthers did not attain a gold medal, King claimed the next best thing – avenging a loss.
King fell Odessa High’s Greg Andrade in a tightly contested, three-set match during the Comanche Classic on February 26.

In their second meeting on Friday, King got the best of Andrade in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 to place third.

Panthers open Levelland Linedrive Classic with win

The Panthers tallied double-digit hits for the third time this season with 10 in the back-and-forth game that featured three lead changes.

Devon Rodriguez and Evian Castro led the team with two hits apiece. Five other Fort Stockton batters managed to get on base by way of a hit.

Late September and early October are the best times, but late winter is a good time, before they really start growing. Spacing will depend on the mature size of each variety, but for most you would want to plant the fans 16 to 18 inches apart into well-prepared garden soil.
