Fort Stockton shutout by Big Spring

Fort Stockton’s lack of production at the plate proved to be a problem in the final three games of the Levelland Linedrive Classic this past weekend and that was the case once again when the Panthers headed to Big Spring on Tuesday, March 9.

The Panthers batters scratched out three hits and were walked seven times in 29 at bats, including 11 strikeouts in their 6-0 loss to the Steers.

A History of Saint Gall

In 1868, Peter J. Gallagher bought the land that included the military garrison and Comanche Springs, platted 160 acres for a town site named Saint Gall, and established two stores at Comanche Springs. The Saint Gall area had first been surveyed in 1859 by Anson Mills of El Paso as a site for the original post.

County opens up facilities to 100 percent capacity

Pecos County Commissioners decided to follow suit with Governor Abbott’s executive order (GA-34) at the group’s regular meeting on Monday, March 8.

The Commissioners unanimously decided to make county facilities available for rent starting on Wednesday, March 10 – the date Abbott’s order went into effect.

Panthers track stays perfect at Sandhills Relays

Not one, not two, but three is the number of gold medals A.J. Garcia brought home from the Sandhills Relays on Friday, March 5.

The senior led the Panthers to their second consecutive team title in as many outings.

Garcia was a part of Fort Stockton’s three relay teams that swept the meet with first-place finishes while improving their times in each race. Garcia was one of nine Panthers to claim at least one gold medal as an individual or by being a leg on a relay team.

PCMH receives J&J vaccine

Starting on Thursday, March 11, Pecos County Memorial Hospital will start giving out the Johnson & Johnson single-dose vaccine after receiving their first shipment of shots on Tuesday, March 9.

PCMH received 100 vaccines on Tuesday and the hospital plans to administer those shots at their clinic on the hospital’s campus by way of an appointment.
