The summer reading program will be opened on May 20, the theme this year is “Adventures Begin at Your Library”. The kickoff program will be held June 6 at 10 a.m. with the illusionist “Artist of the Impossible”. Children will receive a welcome packet and incentives during the program. Each child who completes the program will be eligible to attend the movie “Migration” at the movie theatre. The program is available to all children in Pecos County at no cost. Please come to the library to register and obtain details.
The Davis Mountains State Park located just north of Fort Davis offers weekly programs, hikes, and adventures to park visitors. If hikes are not your thing, the park offers slide shows and presentations such as Rock Stars of the Davis Mountains State Park which was held this past Sunday.

These days, getting all three of my semi-grown daughters together for a family activity is like herding cats who have cars, jobs at coffee shops and their own debit cards. So, when our girls were able to pencil us in for a quick weekend trip to San Antonio, my wife and I jumped at the chance . . . or sort of hopped. Our backs hurt.
Gabriel Urias Granado, 60, of Fort Stockton, left this world peacefully to be with the Lord, on Monday May 6, in Fort Stockton, Texas surrounded by his loving family. Visitation will be held on Monday, May 13 from 12 p.m.
