City Council elects new Mayor Pro-Tem

The Fort Stockton city council on June 12 elected a new Mayor Pro-Tempore, who takes over for the mayor during city business in the mayor’s absence. “My suggestion, I would personally say you wait to have this when we have the new mayor,” said out-going Mayor Chris Alexander.

County gives ARPA funds to EMS stations

The Federal government gave cities and counties money during the Covid-19 pandemic to provide relief to Americans and stimulate economic recovery as the world comes out of the effects of the pandemic. Money from ARPA can be used for a large variety of improvement projects, support for lost revenue and more.

County hears Dark Skies presentation

Changes in outdoor lighting technology have made the world a brighter place in recent years, it has made the mission of the McDonald Observatory in Fort Davis, more difficult. Counties surrounding the observatory – including Pecos County – have adopted outdoor lighting regulations in recent years to keep the night sky dark for the observatory, new technology has not been included in those regulations.
