During the summer, people tend to spend more time outdoors for longer periods of time, which can lead to a higher risk of a heat-related illness, such as heat exhaustion or heat stroke. The American College of Emergency Physicians reports that each year there are hundreds of fatalities and countless emergency department visits due to heat-related illnesses.

Homeowners looking to add a touch of fiery brilliance to their garden should look no further than the firecracker plant, named the newest Texas Superstar. The Fort Stockton FFA recognized Hunter Daniels for passing the state degree check and earning the Lone Star Degree. Hunter will have the opportunity to receive his Lone Star Degree on stage at the 95th Texas State Convention. The Pecos County Senior Center is also offering Zumba classes on the first Tuesday of each month at 1:30 p.m. However, because the Fourth of July falls on the first Tuesday of July, for this month only it will be held on the second Tuesday. Leticia Gaylor leads the Zumba Chair Gold classes which are specially tailored for senior citizens as seated exercises.
