A group of illegal aliens in Texas has filed a lawsuit claiming their arrests on local and state charges are “unconstitutional.” Adding to this class-action chutzpah, they want more than $5 million in compensation.
The Midland College-WRTTC Alumni’s Second Annual Cinco de Mayo Cornhole Tournament was held on May 5 at K-Bobs Restaurant in Fort Stockton. The event was organized by the WRTTC Alumni group to raise money to assist the WRTTC in events like the Welcome Back Bash Orientation, and primarily to support Scholars’ Dollars Scholarship Fundraisers.
Members of the Keep Historic Fort Stockton Beautiful board assembled last week to present ribbons to the winners of their art contest. The first-place winner, Sanchi Bhakta, will have her artwork displayed on a City sanitation truck for five years. Fort Stockton Community Theatre announces its third annual Be Cool/ Stay Cool Summer Theatre Camp for youth aged from end of Kindergarten to end of eighth grade. The camp will run at the Nelson Street Theatre, 102 South Nelson St., from Monday, June 13 through Friday, June 24 from 1-4 p.m.
Stones are a basic part of our lives. We’ve been around stones since birth. We’ve played with them, thrown them, skipped them if we lived close to a lake. We built things with them, and stepped on them with our bare feet.
Pecos County Senior Celebration was held on May 6 at the Large Community Hall honoring our seniors with workshops, guest speakers, exhibitors, a meal, information, and awards. The event was sponsored by Texas A&M AgriLife Extension, TEEA, Saint Joseph Home Health, Pecos County State Bank, and Fort Stockton Insurance.
It’s that time of year again, where the end of the school year means more free time for families with kids who are eager to take a break from the books and partake in outdoor pursuits. One way youngsters can become familiar with some of the national park sites while completing fun activities and earning merit badges is through the Junior Rangers Park program.
