November 1977 issue: FAMILY’S SECOND – Walter Campbell (third from right) was presented the rank of Eagle Scout in a Troop 54 court of honor ceremony at First United Methodist Church last Saturday evening. Walter’s older brother, John, also an Eagle, had the honor of presenting the badge to the family’s second member to attain the highest rank in Scouting. Comanche Springs Florist, Bobbye Shannon’s new Fort Stockton business, was officially opened with a ribbon cutting by the Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors at the firm’s 507 N. Main St. location. The owner and members of their family were joined by numerous friends during opening day. Included in the photo in the front row are (l-r) Becky Nell Young, one of Mrs. Shannon’s daughters, holding her baby son, John Young; Mrs. R.L Walker, mother of the owner; Mrs. Shannon, her sister; Becky Walker; her daughter, Mary Kay Shannon; a longtime friend of the family, Larry Bass; and Miss Fort Stockton, Connie Riggs.

October 1974 issue: DEDICATION DIGNITARIES – On hand for Tuesday’s dedication of a new historical wall plaque at the Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce building were these four officials an several other interested Fort Stockton citizens. Shown are (L-R) Edward Winkler, president of the Fort Stockton Historical Society; State Rep. Richard C. Slack of Pecos; oilman Lee O. White of Fort Stockton, and Elton Holland, president of the of the Chamber of Commerce. The new plaque summarizes the development of the petroleum industry in Pecos County, which has benefited Fort Stockton so tremendously.
