Santiago Cantu’s 16-year run as a Pecos County Commissioner and 18-year tenure on the recreation board in Fort Stockton came to an end this month following the Nov. 8 election.
Fort Stockton-native Rolando “Ronnie” Chavez was recently honored by the city for serving as a Fort Stockton volunteer firefighter for 30 years, celebrating a long and storied career serving the citizens of Fort Stockton.
Longtime Fort Stockton Intergovernmental Recreation Board Member Santiago Cantu was honored by the rec board for extraordinary service and time served at the group’s regular meeting on Dec. 13. The meeting was Cantu’s last with the group and his last month with the county commissioners.
The Fort Stockton Chamber of Commerce annual Joy Run took place on Dec. 16 at Focused Care at Fort Stockton. All residents received gifts from Santa, Chamber of Commerce members, and volunteers in the community.
