Love over anger and evil

Body
am sure that all of us at some point in life have felt anger and rage towards something or someone. Think about when you are driving on the highway and the other car does not use its blinkers when turning to the other side. That really makes us angry! However, at a more collective level, there are social issues that have made people angry for so long, like with racism and discrimination, just to give a few examples. That as well has made several people angry. Hence, if anger is part of the human experience, how do we deal with it? I

Hope in the midst of fear

Body
Could you think about a fear that you would never tell anyone just because they come from the deepest, most honest, and sincere part of our being? Nowadays, after a pandemic that changed the social order for many people, the number of fears that surround us is surprising. How many of us tremble with fear with things like, “what if I can’t find the job for which I prepare so much?” or “what if I lose my job?” or “what if one of my loved ones get COVID?” or even “what if I don’t fulfill the task that was given to me in life?”

Take advantage of National Teen Driver Safety Week

Body
The pandemic has not changed the fact that motor vehicle crashes continue to be the leading cause of death for teens 15 to 19 years old in the U.S. and in Texas. Due to their lack of driving experience, teens are more likely to underestimate dangerous situations or make critical decision errors that can lead to crashes. Distraction from other teen passengers adds to the risk. Studies have shown that crash risk increases with the number of passengers under age 21. According to a AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety, the crash risk increases by 44% for one passenger, doubles for two passengers and quadruples when carrying three or more passengers under 21.

Massive crop of red oak seedlings becoming a problem

Body
Dear Neil: Last year we had a massive crop of red oak acorns, resulting massive crop of red oak seedlings. I tried to pick up as many as I could, but we still ended up having to pull scores of them out. We have another big crop this year. Is there any way around a repeat performance? It’s so bad I really wish I didn’t have the tree.

The lie about Border Patrol agents

Body
Simply saying something over and over doesn’t make it so. I know because I’ve tried it. No matter how many times I say, “I’m a good golfer, I’m a good golfer,” the reality is I still stink, as anyone who has seen me on the course will verify.

Support someone else in their laments

Body
Sadness, fear, grief, and lamenting are part of the human experience. But then why more and more does it seem that our emotions such as lament are not welcomed in some churches and among certain religious leaders?
