Texans urged to heed travel warnings about Mexico

Body
Texans planning to travel to Mexico or currently visiting there are urged to closely follow warnings from the U.S. Department of State, which advises U.S. citizens to not travel to the states of Colima, Guerrero, Michoacan, Sinaloa and Tamaulipas. Travelers to other states in Mexico are urged to either reconsider or at least exercise increased caution. This comes after violence broke out in Jalisco following the death of a cartel leader in a gunfight with Mexican authorities.

LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Body
Dear Editor, I’m writing because I have a question to ask. Can anyone give me an answer? My question is: why are some vehicle owners putting these loud loud items in their vehicles? They are very disturbing and some really are just showing off or because it’s the style.

Body
Forbes says the “man purse” — or “murse” — is no longer just a trend, but a luxury must-have. Featured heavily during Paris Men’s Fashion Week, designers presented murse styles from tiny satchels to purses larger than the one my mother used.

Older generations teach the lost art of romance

Body
All my father ever wanted as a young man was to marry my mother and start a family — plans that were interrupted when he was drafted into the Army during the Korean conflict. As he served in Texas, Germany and other parts of the world, there was only one affordable way to stay in contact: writing letters.

Is ‘hot take dating’ right for you?

Body
“You don’t have to tell your guts!” My mother’s colorful phrase for practicing verbal restraint would be mocked by proponents of the viral dating trend called “hot take dating.” Once upon a time, people in the dating game practiced their best behavior and tiptoed around potentially controversial topics. When I first met my wife and she asked where I attended church, I hastily volunteered the location name rather than the denomination, so as not to offend her United Methodist sensiblities.
