In the first district contest of the season, the Fort Stockton Volleyball program played host to the Greenwood Rangerettes this past Saturday. The Prowlers competed well against their district competition, but were unsuccessful in securing a victory, falling 25-21, 2225, 14-25, 18-25.

The Buena Vista fell to the host Bears 42-22 after tying the game at 6 apiece on a Jackie Jurado scoring run in the first quarter. The Bears led 34-6 when Jurado scored again to make it 34-14 in the fourth quarter. Vick Garza passed 66 yards to Jose Castro and after the conversion it was 34-22. The Pecos County Commissioners Court breezed through an abbreviated agenda Monday morning, approving everything that was up for discussion. Things got started when Pecos County Extension Agent Elaine Haby read a lengthy proclamation as the commissioner’s court recognized National 4-H week Oct.

I remember the time we were working a big bunch of older sheep to send to the sale. In the middle of that bunch was a ewe with just born twin lambs. We did not have time to catch them and put them in a separate pen, so we just kept working with the big bunch. I tried to identify her so we would not separate her from her lambs. All the stirring and moving of the big bunch did not seem to excite her; she just kept looking back and moving quietly making sure that her lambs were with her. Those two little lambs stayed side by her side following no other sheep.

The Fort Stockton High School Panthers ended homecoming festivities with a win. Following the crowning of this year’s Homecoming King and Queen, Aryan Hernandez and Jaslyn Pacheco, the Panthers took the field playing host to the Ysleta Indians from El Paso. After a 14-all tie at halftime, the Panthers surged in the second half to win 41-21.
