PCMH gives 500 virus vaccines

By the end of the day on Monday, Jan. 4, Pecos County Memorial Hospital had administered its final supply of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine it received from the state during the month of December.

No one injured in mobile home fire

A pair of mobile homes combined into one were fully engulfed in flames on Wednesday, Dec. 30 in Fort Stockton at 227 Bishop St despite the frigid rainfall occurring during the time the fire started.

Pecos County native TJ Perkins was sworn in as the county’s new sheriff by Pecos County Judge Joe Shuster on Friday, Jan. 1 at the Pecos County Courthouse in Fort Stockton. Intermediate UIL meet results

Fort Stockton Intermediate School students participated in a virtual UIL meet on Wednesday, Dec. 2 and Thursday, Dec. 3 hosted by Seminole ISD. All students who participated did an outstanding job and the following students were able to place in their particular events:

Pecos County 4H and FFA members went to the Livestock Jackpot in Fort Davis and had a successful showing at the competition. The following earned awards at the event: Megan Hanson, junior showmanship winner in cattle; Madison Hanson, first place Heifer and reserved overall champion; Carla Vazquez, reserved champion WOPB and BLOPB junior swine showmanship champion; Rylee McDaniel, reserve champion Duroc pig and senior swine showmanship champion; Mesa McDaniel, reserve champion Hampshire plus several top showing earning some money doing it. Pecos County students make ASU Dean’s List, graduate

Angelo State University in San Angelo, Texas, has announced the students achieving the Dean’s List designation for the 2020 fall semester on Thursday, Dec. 10. To be eligible for the ASU Dean’s List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain a 3.25 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.
