The Pecos County Commissioners Court decided to move forward with a 70% tax abatement agreement with Pavo Bess, LLC for the construction of a $62 million battery energy storage system at Monday’s regular meeting.

Dr. Gabriel Zamora announced as FSISD Superintendent finalist

The Fort Stockton Independent School District School Board made their official decision on who the next superintendent will moving forward at the group’s special on May 5.

Dr. Gabriel Zamora received a unanimous vote by school board to become the district’s next superintendent.

The current Olfen Independent School District Superintendent was selected from a group of over 40 candidates that applied for the position.

A large wooden cross was carried down Dickinson Blvd Monday morning and its bearer, Walter Masters, was open to discuss his symbolic mission. “I’ve been called to carry this cross to all ends of America,” declared Masters.

Over 5,000 people vaccinated in Pecos County

The number of people vaccinated for COVID-19 by the either the Modera, Pfizer, or Johnson & Johnson shot in Pecos County topped the 5,000 mark in the past two weeks. The county has given out 4,936 first-dose shots between the Moderna and Pfizer vaccine.

Maplewood 2 solar project completed

Energy Transfer on April 30 celebrated the official energizing of the Maplewood 2 solar project located in Pecos County. The 28 megawatt alternating current facility in West Texas will deliver low-cost, clean power to Energy Transfer under a 15-year power purchase agreement. This agreement marks Energy Transfer’s first-ever dedicated solar contract.
