Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller last week announced the Texas Department of Agriculture is currently accepting applications for round two of the GO TEXAN Event Grants, a program that provides funding to GO TEXAN partners that host public events to promote Texas products and businesses.

On May 10, many family, friends, and citizens in the community of Fort Stockton gathered to show their support and help celebrate the 63rd birthday of Fort Stockton native Jaime Morales. Andy Rivera and his wife Belinda Rivera, who have been close to Morales for many years, decided to organize a parade and hold a celebration for the Marine veteran that joined the armed service after graduation from Fort Stockton High School The Rivera’s said that they wanted to show their appreciation for their friend and an individual who served our country and now suffers from PTSD.

The PCMH Auxiliary held its annual end-of-the-year awards luncheon at the Fort Stockton Community Theatre. The luncheon was catered by Paul Pasqua’s Cooks Catering Company. The invocation was presented by Reverend Jim Miles.

The Cherished Pets Animal Rescue had its most successful fundraiser in the organization’s history on May 8 at the First Annual Cause for Paws event held at the Old ’76. The nonprofit organization’s Officer of Fundraising, Heather Pass, reported that the event nearly raised approximately $15,000 – a number that’s $3,000 higher than their previous highest grossing fundraiser.

For individuals who are 16-years and older and have not received a COVID-19 vaccine, shots are still available at Pecos County Memorial Hospital as stated by the Pecos County Memorial Hospital administration at Monday’s regular meeting.

The Fort Stockton City Council met in regular session on May 11, and discussed personnel issues, a proposed change to Main Street, and the much-anticipated Springhirst Hotel resolution. After some routine agenda items, the council heard the second reading of Resolution No.

The Fort Stockton Independent School District School Board made its official decision on who the next superintendent will be moving forward at the group’s special on May 5. Dr.

The Fort Stockton Community Theatre will host the play “The Butler Did It,” written by Todd Wallinger and directed by Susann Hall. The play starring nine of FSCT’s young people will open on Thursday, May 13, at 7:00 p.m. at The Nelson Street Theatre.
