Fort Stockton set to honor our heroes

Fort Stockton residents will join the rest of our Nation in honoring those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country during times of conflict. Fort Stockton’s annual Memorial Day Service held this year on May 27 features the presentation of colors by American Legion Post 234, as well as a wreath-laying ceremonyforthosewhodiedinvarious conflicts while serving our great nation, and for those law enforcement and first responders who died in the line of duty. There will also be patriotic music and proclamations read by community leaders. As with tradition, the names of the fallen will be read also. The public is encouraged to call Pecos County Veterans Service Officer Michael Corkrum at 432-290-2764 to add the name of a loved one to the list. The Memorial Day service will begin at 10 a.m. at Zero Stone Park, located south of the Pecos County Courthouse.

APEX signs water purchase agreement with City of Fort Stockton

During the Fort Stockton City Council meeting on May 13, council members approved an agreement with Apex Clean Energy for the purchase of water for the Pecos Flats green hydrogen facility that’s currently in development. The agreement is for $300,000 a year during the option period and an estimate of up to $7.3M a year during operations. The water will be sourced from the Pecos Valley Alluvium and/or Rustler Aquifers, water sources currently used mainly for industrial and agricultural purposes.

The library continues to be a busy place, the Consulate of Mexico will be in Fort Stockton at the Library on Saturday, May 18. The Mobile Consulate issues certified copies of birth certificates for people born and registered in any part of Mexico. They also provide services of passport issuance, consular registration, civil registry and visas certification. Call 424309-0009 to make an appointment.
