El Buen Vecino to Host Loteria games

Fort Stockton’s neighborhood thrift store, El Buen Vecino will host Lotería games during the upcoming Barrio Fest in downtown Fort Stockton on Saturday, September 14 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Games will cost $1 per card, with a limit of two cards per game. All money raised will fund necessary improvements to El Buen Vecino, and its work to serve Fort Stockton through its thrift store. Prizes will include gift cards valued up to $50 as well as other valuable items.

The Pecos County Elections Office is hosting an open house to celebrate National Voter Registration Day and to help prepare voters for the upcoming election. Recently, the Election Office has moved its post from their old location to the Pecos County Annex building located at 200 S.

Pecos County EMS Gains Approval

The Pecos County Commissioner’s Court held its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday morning, August 26. During this meeting the court approved the notice for November 5 to be set for the general election later this year as well as an election services contract with Fort Stockton Independant School District and the Pecos County Election Administrator for the same day.

On August 31, Fort Stockton’s beloved Sonic Drive-In, a staple of the community since its opening in 1976, was struck by a significant fire that temporarily closed Dickinson Boulevard. The blaze began around 6:40 p.m., prompting an immediate response from the Fort Stockton Fire Department.

Pecos County Burn Ban Rescinded

Pecos County Judge, Joe Shuster, has rescinded the county’s burn ban to give locals the opportunity to burn their piles of brush etc. “We still want to remind everyone to remain cautious when trying to burn,” said emergency management coordinator, Jessie Dominguez.
