Veterans to receive free flu shots

Starting Wednesday, September 18, veterans will qualify for free flu shots at all West Texas VA clinic locations. West Texas VA Health Care System (WTVAHCS) offers flu vaccinations to veterans at all WTVAHCS locations on a walk-in basis.

Cruise Party Return

On Saturday, September 28, the Fort Stockton Rotary Club will once again host their annual Cruise Party. The event, held every year, raises the necessary funds for many local community projects while providing excellent food, drinks, and music to attendees, as well as a chance to win a cruise trip worth $3500.

“Flores and a ‘First Ever’ Exhibit”

Santiago de Queretaro, Mexico – Fort Stockton native, Carolina Flores will exhibit her artwork in Santiago de Queretaro next Friday, September 20. She along with 22 artists from San Antonio were selected for “Al Otro Lado Del Espejo” exhibit. This translates to ‘The Other Side of the Mirror’. The exhibit is an ambitious artistic reunion intended to highlight three centuries of history between San Antonio and Queretaro.
Fort Stockton native and artist, Carolina Flores, will exhibit her artwork in Santiago de Queretaro next Friday, September 20.

Barrio Fest III Education Day

Barrio Fest III opens tomorrow, Friday, September 13, at 8:30 a.m. with the 3rd grade students from Alamo Elementary, Buena Vista ISD and the Christian Academy visiting eleven different stations that will focus on some facet of the Hispanic Culture. High School Honor Society members along with the third-grade teachers will guide the students through the morning that will focus on the rich history and traditions of the Hispanic Culture.

County Makes Headway in Grant Application Process

The Pecos County Commissioner’s Court held its regularly scheduled meeting on Monday morning, September 9. During this meeting the court approved to designate Grant Works as the grant management firm and administration provider firm to represent the county in the application for the community development grant program from the Texas Department of Agriculture.
