The U.S. Border Patrol’s Big Bend Sector has strengthened its border security with the recent installation of two additional Autonomous Surveillance Towers (ASTs), enhancing the sector’s ability to monitor and respond to activity along the U.S.-Mexico border. These solar-powered towers, equipped with long-range sensors and thermal imaging technology, are designed to provide continuous, real- time surveillance, even in the rugged and remote areas of the Big Bend region.

The Pecos County Senior Citizens Center is set to welcome the holiday season with its annual Thanksgiving Potluck Dinner on Friday, November 15. This cherished event will begin at 12:00 noon at the center, located at 1010 W. 14th Street in Fort Stockton, bringing together seniors and guests to celebrate the spirit of community and gratitude.

Houston - David Shuster, the longstanding architect of the Houston Christian University (HCU) golf program, has transformed the school’s golf teams into a powerhouse since he was tasked with reviving the program in 2006. Now stepping into the role of Director of Golf while continuing as the Men’s Head Coach, Shuster leaves an impressive legacy from his dual role as head coach for both the men’s and women’s teams over his nearly two-decade tenure.

At its regular meeting on Monday, October 28, the Fort Stockton City Council issued a proclamation recognizing November 11, 2024, as Veterans Day. Mayor Paul Casias signed the proclamation, calling on all residents to honor the nation’s veterans who have served and sacrificed in conflicts worldwide.

The Pecos County Commissioners Court convened for its regular session on Monday, October 28, at the County Courthouse in Fort Stockton. The agenda covered various matters concerning community services, county budget allocations, and upcoming public events.

After Election Day on November 5, and as of Wednesday morning, Pecos County’s voting results were quite clear. Please note that these are unofficial results which were updated on Wednesday morning from the official Texas Election Night Secretary of State website and Pecos County election officials and will be updated with the official results at a later time.
