Cowboys Stampede Over Pecos Bills in Season Opener, 21-0

Under the lights of the outstanding newly constructed Cyclone Ballparks in Pecos, Texas, the Alpine Cowboys kicked off their 2024 Pecos League season with a resounding 21-0 victory over the newly established home team Pecos Bills. The game, played on a dusty and windy Tuesday evening, showcased the Cowboys’ offensive firepower and a stellar pitching performance by rookie Dieterich Guertzgen.

High school Summer Camps open to incoming and current athletes

Fort Stockton High School announced upcoming summer camps for 2024. The camp registration paperwork is available in the FSHS Athletics Office with Athletics Secretary Mimi Arriaga. Registration is available until Friday, May 31. Please note that registration is available on site, and we regret to inform you that checks will not be an acceptable form of payment. Lastly, swimming sessions are $90 a session, while all other camps are $40 per camp.

Fort Stockton Seniors Shine at Regional Tennis Championships in Lubbock

Fort Stockton High School’s senior tennis duo, Jaslyn Pacheco and Athena Gomez recently showcased their skills and determination at the Region 1-4A Tennis Championships held at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock. Pacheco and Gomez, seeded sixth entering the tournament, quickly elevated their position to the fifth seed after a dominant 6-1, 6-4 victory over Krum from District 8. This win secured their place in the quarterfinals, a familiar stage for the duo, who had previously reached this round as sophomores in 2022.

Fort Stockton Athletics hosted a ceremony on Thursday, May 16 at the Fort Stockton Middle School Blue Gymnasium. The ceremony commemorated and honored the late Donavyn Vaughn by renaming the gymnasium in his honor.

Fort Stockton Athletics host summer workout program

Fort Stockton Athletics will host a Strength and Conditioning Camp (SAC Camp) for all Panther and Prowler student athletes grades 6-12. The camp will run Monday through Wednesday with Thursdays acting as an open weight room/gym. Each day, the workouts will be at the Fort Stockton High School Football Field and/or the HPE. The first workout session takes place from 7-8:30 a.m. for 9th-12th graders, while the second session takes place from 9:3010:30 a.m. for 6th-8th graders. Lastly, the weight room will be available for use each Thursday from 8-10 a.m. at the HPE.

An end of athletic competition for 2023-24 seasons, on Tuesday, May 7, the Fort Stockton Athletics Department hosted the annual Spring Fling for all athletic teams. The Spring Fling gathering is a time for student athletes to unwind at the end of their competitive seasons, while also allowing each program to be recognized for their accomplishments.
