Fort Stockton’s lack of production at the plate proved to be a problem in the final three games of the Levelland Linedrive Classic this past weekend and that was the case once again when the Panthers headed to Big Spring on Tuesday, March 9.
The Panthers batters scratched out three hits and were walked seven times in 29 at bats, including 11 strikeouts in their 6-0 loss to the Steers.
Not one, not two, but three is the number of gold medals A.J. Garcia brought home from the Sandhills Relays on Friday, March 5.
The senior led the Panthers to their second consecutive team title in as many outings.
Garcia was a part of Fort Stockton’s three relay teams that swept the meet with first-place finishes while improving their times in each race. Garcia was one of nine Panthers to claim at least one gold medal as an individual or by being a leg on a relay team.
Fort Stockton multi-sport standout Alex Williams had his talents on full display this past week, competing at the Andrews Spring Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
The senior took to the links one day after pitching a two-inning no-hitter for the Fort Stockton baseball team in the Panthers opening game of the Levelland Linedrive Classic against Perryton.
Fort Stockton tennis standout Colton King put on another superior performance on Friday, March 5 at the Odessa Permian Invite.
While the No. 1 boy’s single player for the Panthers did not attain a gold medal, King claimed the next best thing – avenging a loss.
King fell Odessa High’s Greg Andrade in a tightly contested, three-set match during the Comanche Classic on February 26.
In their second meeting on Friday, King got the best of Andrade in straight sets 6-1, 6-0 to place third.
