Fort Stockton defeated El Paso Austin 18-16 in their season opener on Aug. 26 at Panther Stadium. The hard-fought- victory was the first for new head coach Jeremy Hickman and the fifth consecutive season-opening win for the Panthers.
The Fort Stockton football program hosted Decals with Dads on Aug. 25. Fathers and sons put decals on their helmets the evening before the Panthers first game of the season.
The event was a part of the unity movement that head coach Jeremy Hickman began when he arrived three months ago.
"We're doing this to open ourselves up to you and let you know we're here to try to bring you in and say this is all of us. It's all of us working together to make sure that our community and our kids are in the best hands they can be," he said.
This week’s Pioneer Athlete of the Week is Aryanna Gonzalez.
The junior earned the libero jersey to start the 2022 volleyball season for the Prowlers and the junior showed why in the first seven games of the season last week. Gonzalez tallied 115 total digs in the seven matches (16 digs per match).
