Fort Stockton ISD hosts tennis camp

Third through eighth grade students participated in the Fort Stockton Tennis Camp this past week at the tennis courts located on the high school campus. Fort Stockton head tennis coach Victor Garcia was the instructor at the camp. The camp ran from June 27-29 and had two separate instruction sessions. Cowboys continue to dominate

The Alpine o6 Cowboys continued their dominant play by winning three of the final four games on the teams road trip to Weimar, Tucson, Ariz., and Roswell, N.M. Alpines record sits at 10-6 after the road trip, good for a second-place tie in the Pecos League Mountain Division.

After taking two of three from the Austin Weirdos at Parque Zaragoza, the Cowboys traveled two hours southeast to take on the Weimar Hormigas for two games at Strickland Field.

Iraan grad earns all-region track and field honors

Body

Former Iraan High School track and field state medalist Canon Andrews ended his throwing career at Angelo State University with top honors in the Rams’ region and as a national qualifier.

Andrews was one of 13 members of the Angelo State track and field team that earned NCAA Division II All-South Central Region honors from the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) for their performances during the 2022 outdoor season.

Athletes show out at SAC camp

The Panthers and Prowlers have been hard at work this summer. These athletes have finished their second week of S.A.C. Camp (Strength and Conditioning Camp). Their workouts start at 7 a.m. each morning, Monday through Thursday, for six weeks of the summer. Fort Stockton has averaged over 140 athletes from all sports, each day dedicating themselves to getting better to represent the community in a positive way, on and off the playing field or courts. Traylor made history in Austin

In the top of the third inning, Pumpkin Center, La., native Mark Traylor bounced a two-RBI single into center field against Austin Weirdos pitcher Jacob Hubbard to record the 168th hit in his four-season Cowboys career, setting the record for most hits in a Cowboys uniform. He eclipsed former Cowboys star Lance Myers for the milestone, an old teammate of Traylors who won the 2019 Pecos League Championship with him.

Pioneer Female Athlete of the Year: Alyana Dominguez

Body

Elevating her level of performance when it mattered most was a consistent theme to Alyana Dominguez’s senior season.

And the bar she set on the court and the softball field as a Prowler will be one Fort Stockton female athletes strive for in the years ahead.

The 2022 Pioneer Female Athlete of the Year ended her career as one of the most decorated female athletes at Fort Stockton High School in recent memory.
