Fort Stockton sits in 5th place in district standings

Fort Stockton was defeated via run rule for the first time this season in a 13-3 road loss on March 24 against defending district champion Monahans.

The Lady Loboes plated four runs in the fourth inning and added eight runs in the third frame to end the game after 4 ½ innings.

Monahans first two batters got on base by way of a walk and a single in the bottom of the first inning. Sophomore Brylee Merrick and Senior Mia Matta followed with back-to-back solo home runs, giving the home team an early 4-0 lead.

In the third inning, the Laby Loboes tallied six hits, including a three-run home run by senior Haylie Brito.

Yadira Hernandez, Aryanna Gonzalez, and Adree Bueno responded for the Prowlers in the top of the fourth inning with three consecutive hits.

Gonzalez’s single drove in Gonzalez and the Prowlers had two runners on base with no outs, facing a 13-2 deficit.

Following a strikeout, Kriselda Porras and Dmya Vaughn scratched out back-to-back single before Porras was later picked off and strikeout closed the frame.

Ivanna Ortiz was Fort Stockton’s lone batter to record a hit in the fifth inning as two flyouts and a lineout followed the junior’s single.

Monahans outhit Fort Stockton 12-7 and committed no errors compared to the Prowlers’ one error.

Fort Stockton will play host to Andrews on Tuesday, March 28 to close out the first round of district play. The following is the current standings in 4A District 3:
