Peaking at the right time came to fruition for the Prowlers track and field team last week at the District 2-4A meet in Andrews.

The Fort Stockton girls had nine athletes qualify for the area meet via top-four finishes. Two individuals and a relay team had personal-best times or marks in hand by the end of the event.

Sophomore Ali Jackson earned three gold medals and clocked two personal records to cap the best day of her young track career.

Jackson clocked personal-best times in the 200-meter dash (26.79 seconds) and the 400 (1:00.34). The underclassman finished the 800 in 2:28, winning all three of the events she competed in.

The Prowlers’ 400-meter relay team (Adriana Aguilar, Gabriela Renteria, Rosa Hernandez, Aislynn Robledo) will compete again at the area meet after the group placed third at districts with a personal-best time (51.96) to begin their postseason run.

Estrella Aguilar and Priscilla Trevino will serve as alternates for the relay squad at the area meet.

Freshman Yaneli Caballero elevated her performance in the long jump significantly and punched her ticket to the area meet as a result. Caballero leaped 15 feet 11 inches to earn the fourth and final qualifying spot in the long jump competition. The mark was a foot further than her previous season-best jump.

Senior Leslie Esquivel took fourth place in both the mile (5:56.18) and the 3,200 (13:13.36) to advance to the area competition on April 21 in Andrews.
