Fort Stockton completed their preseason schedule on Aug. 19 in scrimmages against 6A Del Rio and 5A Winn Eagles Pass.

The Panthers traveled to Del Rio for the threeteam event and tied their opponents in both the controlled and live quarter portions of the scrimmage.

“I was proud of how the kids played. I thought we played really hard,” Fort Stockton head coach Jeremy Hickman said. “I feel like we started faster than the previous week.”

Fort Stockton scored two TDs in the controlled scrimmage while each of their opponents scored one apiece. All three squads failed to score in the live scrimmage sessions. Quarterback Adrian Hernandez connected with Isaiah Garcia for a score through the air and Jaydrien Ramirez added a TD on the ground.

Garcia hauled in a team-best three catches for 117 yards.

Pedro Gonzales led the Panthers in rushing with 42 yards on two carries. Ramirez tallied 16 yards on eight carries and Isaiah Velasquez totaled 35 yards on six carries.

Marco Garica, who is competing with Hernandez for the starting job at quarterback, was 4-of-10 throwing the ball, finishing with 60 yards through the air. On defense, Isaiah Garcia and Ramirez each snagged an interception to highlight their wellrounded performances.

Defensive lineman Xzavaier Dominguez and Dominic Bernal tied for a team-high two sacks.

Senior and returning all-district first-team linebacker Daren Ureste finished with a team-best eight tackles while fellow linebacker, Ramirez, ended the scrimmage with seven.
