The Fort Stockton powerlifting put on a show for their home fans at Saturday’s Fort Stockton Power Classic.

Fort Stockton coach Jeremy Boatright said the Andrew Gonzales put forth a standout performance and that senior Elijah Escajeda showed his impressive strength that was displayed on the gridiron this past fall.

“Shining bright for us today was senior Andrew Gonzales, who put a dagger into some of his old personal best (lifting records) by putting up some massive numbers. He was followed by senior Elijah Escajeda, who got the crowd roaring with his impressive 485-pound deadlift,” he said.

All the Panthers will continue to fight as the season nears its conclusion, attempting to earn the final 12 regional spots in a last chance qualifier on Feb. 24 at Pecos High School.
