Panther JV keeps perfect record intact

The Fort Stockton junior varsity football team visited Clint on Oct. 5 and came away with a shutout win over the Lions. The story of the game was the Panthers’ defense.

“Defensively our Panthers came to play the second we got off the bus,” said coach Zachariah Roberson. “We swarmed the Lions all night, we forced the Lions to turn over the ball twice.”

Kael Rojero and Alonso Galindo each had an interception.

“Offensively, we ran over the Lions all night,” Roberson added.

Johnny Brown and Landon Havins each scored a touchdown, while Zeke Soto and Landon Havins had the 2-point conversions.

Fort Stockton’s record is now 6-0. They’ll head to Monahans on Thursday, Oct. 13 to play the Loboes at 6:30 p.m.

Freshman fall to Greenwood

The Panther freshman squad suffered their first defeat of the season against a formidable Greenwood team on the road on Oct. 5.. Cedric Lopez scored the only touchdown for the Panthers via a 14-yard run in the 35-6 loss.

The Fort Stockton freshman now have a 5-1 record and will play at Monahans at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 13.
