Fort Stockton XC teams qualify for regionals

Ali Jackson and Juan Vela went to Andrews on Tuesday and came home with gold, each capturing individual district championships for the Fort Stockton High School cross country program at the district meet. The Prowlers and Panthers placed second in their respective divisions and will compete Oct. 24 at the regional meet in Lubbock.

The runners worked very hard to earn the right to compete in the district meet,” head coach Sergio Guardiola said.

Jackson completed her district championship two-mile run in a time of 12 minutes 32 seconds. Freshman Summer Hinojos placed second individually in a time of 12:35.

Rounding out the meet for the Prowlers were Arissa Jimenez in 13th at14:23; Natalie Molinar 23rd in 15:17; Marlayna Salmon 26th in 15:49, Ella Otierney 33rd in 16:39, and Paulina Hernandez 38th in 17:13.

Vela was district champion for the Panthers in a time of 16:46 and Fabian Perez was second in 16:52 in the boys 5K race.

Jesus Hernandez was sixth in 17:51.41. Diego Ronquillo was 21st in 18:50; Jose Aguilar 22nd in 18:56; Khalil Jackson 26th in 19:24, and Aryan Hernandez 27th in 19:40.

Leading the JV boys were Ezekiel Soto in eighth at 21:13.60 and Jose Srabial 27th in 27:35.

Competing for the middle school prowlers were Madilyn Castro in 16th at 14:57and Alexandia Pillado 27th in 17:06. The Panther middle school boys competing were Derik Waight, who was 10th in 14:08, and Christian Soto, 15th in 14:47.
