The Texas Army National Guard and the Texas High School Coaches Association (THSCA), along with the Fort Stockton High School Girls Basketball program, are proud to recognize the 2022-2023 Academic All-State recipients.

Senior Eliana Mata was selected to the THSCA Academic All-State Second Team while Arial Smith and Estrella Aguilar were honorable mention.

"As a head coach, I stress the academic side just as much as I stress the basketball side," Fort Stockton Head Coach Lea Daggett stated. "I encourage the girls to be the best they can be in the classroom. It can be hard on the girls during the season to have to get to school early and sometimes get home late from away games, but these athletes always find a way."

The THSCA Academic All-State Teams recognize high school athletes who excel in grade point average, class rank and ACT/SAT score(s).

"It is hard to be a student, but it is extra hard to be a student athlete," Fort Stockton Athletic Director Jeremy Hickman stated. "These athletes that were selected by the THSCA have excelled for our girl’s basketball program, but they have also had the drive and discipline to do what needs to be done in the classroom. These young women are shining examples of how hard work pays off and I cannot be more proud of each and every one of them."
