William Chester (Bill) Lannom passed away on April 22 at Cimarron Park Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in El Paso, at the age of 80.

He was born in Fort Stockton, on May 18,1943 to parents Chester Roy and Gertrude Ellen Lannom. He attended schools and graduated from Texas Tech University in 1965 with a BS degree as a Landscape Architect. Following a career at the State of Maryland’s Park and Planning Commission, he retired to Tucson, Arizona. He returned to his hometown Fort Stockton in 2008. There he served two terms as Mayor of Fort Stockton. He designed the Memorial Garden at the local hospital and was a member of the Living History Unit. He was preceded in death by his parents and daughter Kelley Lannom. Survivors include son JJ Lannom (Kelly) of New Jersey, grandson Theo Lannom of Los Angeles, California, brother John Lannom (Edith) of Fort Stockton, sisters Margaret Bowles and Jeanne Lannom of Alamogordo, New Mexico, many nephews and cousins. Graveside will be May 28, 11a.m., East Hill. Following Celebration of Life at First Baptist Church.
