Wayne Allen Nix, Sr., 60, of Fort Stockton, Texas, went peacefully into the arms of Jesus surrounded by his loving family with songs and prayer on Feb. 27, 2022. 

Wayne was the son of C.W. and Nancy Nix who welcomed Wayne into this world on March 9, 1961, in Fort Stockton.

Wayne was a loving husband to his wife JoAnn Nix for 39 years, married June 12, 1982, and members of First Baptist Church, Fort Stockton.

He worked in the oil and gas industry as a plant operator for 43 years, last as a loyal employee with EagleClaw Midstream. He was proud to have had the privilege of working with his sons Wayne, Jr., Josh, and Christopher for the last several years. He was a hardworking, loyal employee. Wayne never met a stranger, and was a friend to everyone.

Waynes greatest accomplishment in his life was his loving family. His grandchildren were his pride and joy.

He was a great storyteller and joke maker, and loved to make people laugh. He was a history buff, whether it was collecting artifacts, reading, reenacting, watching movies, or YouTube. He always wanted to study and learn the history and the men and women who made it.

His favorite hobby was woodworking. He was a craftsman and a jack of all trades, and could fix anything.

He was Past Master of Masonic Lodge #1022 of Fort Stockton.

Wayne was preceded in death by father Carroll Walter Nix, Sr.; mother Nancy Carroll Nix; brothers Carroll Walter “Wally” Nix, Jr., and Daniel Jay Nix; sister Audra Kay Nix Lawson; grandbaby Nix; in-laws August and Dorothy Roller; and brothers-in-law David Roller and Leroy Hairell.

Wayne is survived by his wife and true love JoAnn Nix; son Wayne Nix, Jr., and wife Rachel Nix and their children Elijah, Noah, Anna, Nehemiah, Isaiah, Jacob, and Samantha; son Joshua Nix and wife Tracy Nix and their children Marcus, Graham, Maddison, Meredit; daughter Meaghan Nix Shuttleworth and husband Christopher and their children Christopher, Jr., William, and LeighAnn; sisters Cheryl Dickinson and husband Greg of Tuttle, Okla., and Linda Englert and husband Jerry of Snyder, Texas; brother Michael Nix and wife Rebecca of Shepherd, Texas;

sister-in-law Susan Hairell; brother-in-law Ronald and wife Helen Roller; sister-in-law Deborah and husband Jim Bob Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews, countless friends, and especially the EagleClaw family.

Pallbearers were Wayne Nix, Jr., Joshua Nix, Christopher Shuttleworth, Sr., Elijaha Nix, Zachary Nix, Stephen Dickinson, Greg Dickinson, and Johnny Lawson. Honorary pallbearers were Noah Nix, Nehemiah Nix, Isaiah Nix, Jacob Nix, Marcus Priester Nix, Graham Nix, Christopher Shuttleworth, Jr., and William Shuttleworth.

Visitation was held on March 4, 2022, at Eternity Funeral Home in Fort Stockton.

Funeral services were held on March 5, 2022, at First Baptist Church in Fort Stockton, with brother Michael Nix officiating. Interment followed at East Hill Cemetery.

Arrangements were under the direction of Eternity Funeral Home.
