Verna Upshaw left us to be with Our Lord Jesus Christ on Aug. 14, 2021. She was born on June 23, 1923, in Rotan, Texas, to Rey Vaughn Kingsfield and Elizabeth Rives.

Verna was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Upshaw; her father Rey Vaughn Kingsfield; her mother Elizabeth Rives; her sisters Neva Phillips and Lanelle Fillingim; and her grandson Bryan Slawson.

Verna is survived by her daughter Sue Grona and husband Gary of Nashville, Tenn.; her granddaughter Kayci Harvey and husband Justin of Markham, Texas; grandson Trey Slawson and wife Candace of Elk Grove, Calif.; and great grandchildren Seth and Sam Slawson, Abigail and Sydney Slawson, and Hudson Harvey.

The Funeral Service will take place on Thursday, Aug. 19, 2021, at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Fort Stockton, Texas. Burial will follow at East Hill Cemetery.
