Sondra Jean Bynum
Sondra Jean “Mimi” Bynum, aged 90, peacefully passed away surrounded by loved ones on September 6, 2024 at her home in Fort Stockton, Texas. She was born on November 28, 1933, and lived a life marked by devotion to God, her family, and her community.
Sondra was a proud alumni of Sul Ross State University, where she earned her master’s degree in psychology. She applied this education as a counselor for Midland College WRTTC. She loved helping students find their path in life and guiding them through their college journey. She had a strong foundation in Christ. Her commitment to faith was evident in her active participation at Immanuel Baptist Church of Fort Stockton, where she played the piano and organ for many years. She cherished her church Family.
She leaves behind a legacy through her family: her children Gerald Kenneth Jr. (Carrie} Bynum, Thomas Kent (Carolyn} Bynum, Kenda Beth (Shameron) Armstrong, and Kay Lynn (Ray) Griffith, Keith Howard (Suzanne) Bynum. She had a remarkable way of connecting with everyone she met; she always had a place at her table, a warm meal, a listening ear, and plenty of conversation. Her door was always open, and she was an inspiration to all who had the privilege to pass through.
