Eulalio “Eddie” Carrasco Rodriguez, Jr., 92, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, was called to his eternal resting place on Sept. 16, 2021 in Austin, Texas. Eulalio was born in Fort Stockton, Texas, to Eulalio and Maria Rodriguez, Sr., on Sept. 8, 1929.

Eulalio was born and raised in Fort Stockton. He joined the U.S. Marine Corps in March 1952 where he earned the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal, and the United Nations Service Medal.

After service to his country, he married Landa Navarette of Marfa, Texas, and went to work as a salesman for Terrazas Furniture in Fort Stockton where he worked for 42 years. As part of a second career, he joined the Pecos County Pct. 2 Commissioner’s Office where he served as the Pct. 2 supervisor for 10 years. 

He and his wife were devout members of the St. Agnes Catholic Church in Fort Stockton. Eulalio was a member of the Fort Stockton Golf Club where he enjoyed 20 years of playing golf with his wife and friends in the desert of West Texas. 

One of Eulalio’s proudest accomplishments was serving as volunteer for six years teaching catechism classes to prisoners at the Fort Stockton Lynaugh Prison Unit. He and his wife later moved to Austin to be close to family. His later years were spent living in the Watermark Assisted Living/Memory Care community where he still continued to support his favorite basketball team, the San Antonio Spurs.

Eulalio could best be described as a man who never met a person he did not like. His beautiful smile, known to many, along with his kind soul and good heart ,will be missed.  

Eulalio is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Landa Rodriguez of Austin; his children Karla Rodriguez-Hippensteel and her husband Scott Hippensteel of Austin, and Eden Rodriguez and his wife Marlene Rodriguez of Austin; his grandchildren Luke Hippensteel of San Antonio, Texas, and Lily Rodriguez of Austin; brothers Salvador Rodriguez of San Antonio, Leopoldo Rodriguez of El Paso, Texas, Angel Rodriguez and his wife Minnie Rodriguez of San Antonio; sister-in-law Barbara Rodriguez of Milwaukee, Wisc.; and six nieces and 11 nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, mother, brother Raymond Rodriguez, sister Cecilia Rodriguez, and nephew Matthew Rodriguez. 

Funeral/memorial service was held at Santa Cruz Catholic Church in Buda, Texas, on Sept. 29, 2021, with Reverend Jesse Martinez officiating. Burial followed at Live Oak Cemetery in  Manchaca, Texas.

Viewing/Visitation was held at Harrell Funeral Home on Sept. 28, 2021, and Rosary followed.

The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Watermark Assisted Living/Memory Care, Encompass Physical Therapy, Magnolia Hospice, and his nurse practitioner for their love and special care for Eulalio, especially during this past year. You were truly “our” heroes during this time, especially during an unprecedented pandemic.
