2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Donald Franklin Garrison, lovingly called “KFST” by Gloria. He would talk to anyone and everyone about the daily events. He left us peacefully on July 6, 2025, at the age of 91. Donald spent his final moments surrounded by his loving family in Fort Stockton, TX.

Born on March 18, 1934, in Delaware, Arkansas. Donald was in the United States Navy and later moved to West Texas to chase opportunities in the oil industry, where he spent 24 years working hard to provide for his family. He and Gloria Blanco were married on November 22, 1956, in Carlsbad, NM, and together they built a beautiful life in Fort Stockton over the past 68 years. During this time they owned and operated Garrison Liquor and Garrison Rentals.

Donald was a man who loved to hunt, fish, ride horses, being in parades with Bubba, going to the rodeos, as well as enjoying the simple pleasures of life and the great outdoors where he loved gardening. He was a devoted husband to Gloria and a proud father to their children: Phillip R. Garrison Sr. (Sylvia), Gregory B. Garrison (Lucy), and Loretta G. Velasco (Juan). He was also a cherished grandfather to 15 grandchildren and a doting great-grandfather to 29 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by his siblings Carolyn Parker, Wayne Garrison, Debbie Roberts, Claude Garrison Jr. and Sue Heath Donald is preceded in death by his, parents Claude and Lela Irene Garrison, sister Louise Fitzpatrick, brothers Benjamin, Thurman and Larry Garrison, and his granddaughter Amanda M. Garrison, who will welcome him with open arms.

In memory of Donald, we gathered to celebrate his life with a funeral service on Friday, July 11, at St. Josephs Catholic Church, visitation at Heritage Funeral home on Thursday July 10, with Rosary following. Friends and family were invited to share their memories and honor a man who was deeply loved and will be greatly missed. Following the service, Donald was laid to rest at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery with Father Francis officiating.
