Virginia “Jinnie” Winn Jackson Drennan passed away peacefully on Oct. 1, 2022, in Granbury surrounded by her family. She was 78 years old and loved for her kindness, her lively spirit, her beautiful smile, and her master elementary teacher organization and work ethic.

Capital Highlights: State sends resources to Florida

Texas has deployed state resources to Florida to assist in response and recovery efforts in the aftermath of the devastation caused last week by Hurricane Ian, one of the most powerful storms to hit the United States in the past decade.

“Texans understand the urgency of hurricane disaster response and recovery efforts, and our state is swiftly sending more support and resources to Florida as they continue responding to Hurricane Ian,” Gov. Greg Abbott said.

Born to parents Earl and Josephine Autry, Maggie grew up in East Texas, and graduated from Marquez High School in 1943. After a brief time in Houston, Texas, Maggie married Dallas Smith in 1947, and moved to Ralls, Texas.
