County receives new ambulance via grant funds
Pecos County’s newest ambulance will be operation beginning next week according to Pecos County Judge Joe Shuster.
Pecos County recently received $3,073,432 from the American Rescue Plan Act federal funds to use towards COVID related county services.
The EMS Ambulance is the first purchase approved by Judge Shuster and the county’s commissioners on behalf of the people of Pecos County.
The transfer ambulance is a 2021 Mercedes Sprinter Type II Van, 2500, 4 x 2 with a price tag of approximately $116,000.
The vehicle allows for transfer of ill citizens from Pecos County to better equipped medical facilities and is managed by the Pecos County EMS Office at 310 W 5th St.
The addition to the Pecos County E.M.S is one of many that have or will take place with grant money allotted to county first responder/law enforcement entities.
The Pecos County Sheriff’s Office was awarded $1,062,000 from Governor Abbott’s Operation Lone Star Grant Program in March of this year. The sheriff’s office was able to purchase $220,000 of night vision and thermal imagining equipment, as well as $670,000 for 10 patrol vehicles – five 2022 F150 pickups and five 2022 Tahoe SUV’s.
