The death of a Leander High School graduate from a fentanyl overdose has prompted state Rep. Terry Wilson, R-Georgetown, to file a bill that would require 10 hours of education annually concerning the dangers of the drug to students in sixth grade and up, the Austin American-Statesman reported.

But Rives was in Fort Stockton in plenty of time, Monday night, and the presentation he gave about the city’s final audit for fiscal year 2022 was a presentation worth waiting for.

County transfers funds to hospital, with more ‘as needed’

The Pecos County Commissioner’s Court met in regular session March 13, and among other routine business, transferred $355,376.81 to Pecos County Memorial Hospital to cover accounts payable, with an additional $400,000 on standby to make payroll in case the hospital did not receive funds it was expecting.

State affairs considers lobbying ban for cities and counties

Local governments could no longer pay registered lobbyists in Austin to advocate on their behalf under a bill considered by the Senate State Affairs Committee Monday. SB 175, by Galveston Senator Mayes Middleton, would ban the use of public funds to pay for lobbying services to individuals or entities registered as lobbyists with the state government.
