The Fort Stockton Independent School District received insight into how their newly acquired CopSync Alarm program would work this past week.

An alarm was set off at a teacher's desk at one of the Fort Stockton ISP campuses on Aug. 20.

“It was a false alarm, but it did provide us an excellent opportunity to judge our response times to just such an incident. The response time was excellent with Fort Stockton Police, Fort Stockton Fire Department, campus personnel, district administration, and maintenance personnel as all responding immediately to the campus and classroom,” said Ron Cline, FSISD Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction, & Special Programs.

After determining that the alarm was a false alarm, the campus was searched thoroughly to make sure that all of the kids and school personnel were safe.

Everyone was safe and no one was hurt in the incident.

CopSync is a software program that is used by thousands of school districts across the country to immediately signal law enforcement and other first responders to schools in the event of an emergency.  It is a prime example of how technology, schools, law enforcement, and other first responders are working together to keep our kids and students safe.

"We'd like to thank everyone who responded so quickly, especially the school personnel, members of law enforcement and our other first responders," Cline said.
