Iraan will be the place to be on Friday and Saturday as the Annual Alley Oop Festival is slated June 2-3 at the Alley Oop Park, 9261 Alley Oop Lane in Iraan. Admission is free for kids 3 and under, $5 for kids 4-12 and $10 for 12 and up, and purchase of a wristband gives festival goers access to Water Jumpers, Water Wars, Archery Tag, Gaming Trailer, Gelly Balls, Mechanical Bull, Bungee Jump, Rock Wall, 9-hole aluminum golf, Toxic Meltdown, High Striker, the dance, and the fireworks show.

A parade and pageant will also take place and food and merchandise vendors will be onsite.

SAN ANGELO - Angelo State University announced the students achieving the Dean’s List for the 2023 spring semester. To be eligible for the ASU Dean’s List, full-time undergraduate students must maintain a 3.25 or better grade point average on a 4.0 scale.

The Fort Stockton Film Society will play host to a showing of the 1956 classic western, The Searchers, on Saturday at 7 p.m. It will be also feature free popcorn and free admission, courtesy of First National Bank of Fort Stockton, so bring your whole family for a Saturday night at the movies. There will also be a classic Warner Brothers cartoon shown just before the main feature.

The Rotary Club of Fort Stockton played host to Henry Downing and Sawyer Downing last Thursday. Henry Downing, a Fort Davis High School Senior, presented on his involvement in the Future Farmers of America.

ALPINE – Borderlands Research Institute (BRI), housed at Sul Ross State University in Alpine, is partnering with Texas Parks and Wildlife Department (TPWD), Cesar Kleberg Wildlife Research Institute (CKWRI), Texas Tech University (TTU), and landowners to study long-term wildlife interactions among aoudad, elk, pronghorn, mule deer and desert bighorn sheep in West Texas.
