Monte Beard, a devoted husband, loving father, proud grandfather, and lifelong resident of Fort Stockton, passed away peacefully on October 7, at the Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home in Big Spring. He was 77 years old. Born on March 5, 1948, in Utopia, Texas, Monte proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1968 to 1974, including a tour in Vietnam. His courage and dedication to service remained a defining part of his life.

Fort Stockton is preparing for its annual Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead) celebration on November 2, an event that has transformed into a powerful communal healing experience since its inception in 2020. Organized by JB Gallegos and Olga Gonzalez, the celebration will take place at the original old original restaurant located on First Street between Nelson and Jackson.

Presided over by Board Chair and Fort Stockton Mayor Paul Casias, the meetings signaled a significant shift in oversight and operations.

The trick to this recipe is roasting red potatoes in the oven, making them crispy and warm, so that the mayo becomes creamy.

October – 2004 – One Big Panther – Headstart students Jaedon Castro and Sarahi Subia get to know the Panther mascot during a pep rally held last Thursday at the school. The Fort Stockton High School varsity cheerleaders led the students in cheers and school songs.

Blue Wave at Comanche Swimming Invitational

The Fort Stockton High School Blue Wave swim team made a strong showing at the Comanche Swimming Invitational this weekend on October 25, competing with grit, heart, and determination across all events. The girls’ team came in 4th place overall, and the boys team came in with an impressive 2nd place finish.
