Love at home plate

Body
GUEST COLUMNIST Don Zimmer had quite a baseball career. During his 66-year career in professional baseball, the scrappy infielder shook Babe Ruth’s hand, posed for pictures with Clark Gable and Lana Turner, played with Brooklyn Dodgers’ Hall of Famers Jackie Robinson and Roy Campanella, managed the Boston Red Sox when Carlton Fisk hit his game-winning 12th inning World Series home run, and coached the 1978 New York Yankees when Bucky Dent broke bean towners’ hearts with his game winning, American League East clinching four-bagger.

SpringsFest adds new wrinkle to March 11 event

Body
Until it was pumped dry in the 1960s, Comanche Springs was among Texas’ six largest springs, flowing at least 30 million gallons a day onto the dry earth of Pecos County. The springs created a desert oasis that earned Fort Stockton the title of Spring City across West Texas.
The first ever SpringsFest was held on March 12, 2021, featuring a stop at the Comanche Springs swimming pool – an area that was previously consumed by a natural spring pool before the current structure was built. File Photo

Turn our hearts to God in love

Body
As we look out our windows or venture outside, we see everywhere around us the signs of spring and new life beginning to burst forth. The sky is blue, there may be calves being born, green shoots are all over, and we hear the bird song with increasing frequency throughout the day.
