Trio of FSHS band students earn all-region honor

A trio of Fort Stockton High School Band members were named to the Association of Texas Small School Bands (ATSSB) Region 6 High School All-Region Bands this past week.

The three students that earned the honor were Aileen Garcia (Flute) - Symphonic Band; Krystian Rodriguez (Alto Saxophone) - Symphonic Band; Fernando Corrales (Trumpet) - first chair - Honor Band.

Washington named to all-tourney team

The Fort Stockton junior varsity Panthers put forth another superior performance this past week at the Van Horn Tournament, winning the consolation trophy at the event.

Aundre Washington was named to the all-tournament team for multiple 20-point outings for the Panthers.

Fort Stockton’s performance as a team was highlighted with a 72-70 win over the Sanderson varsity squad.

USDA releases nationwide customer survey

Producers can now take a nationwide survey to help the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) improve and increase access to its programs and services for America’s farmers, ranchers, and forest managers. The survey includes new and existing customers. USDA encourages all agricultural producers to take the survey, especially those who have not worked with USDA previously. The survey gathers feedback on programs and services available through USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA), Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and Risk Management Agency (RMA).

Buena Vista boys grab wins at Garden City, Lady Longhorns roll over Iraan

Body

The Buena Vista Longhorns’ expected home game against Sierra Blanca on Tuesday was canceled at the last minute, robbing the Longhorns of a quality warmup game before this weekend’s Longhorn Classic.

So far this season, the Longhorns have played well, getting off to a 7-4 start after many of their starters began the season with very little practice time after football.

Roslyn K. McIntyre, 81, of Fort Stockton, passed away on Thursday, Dec. 8, 2022.

Visitation will be Wednesday, Dec. 14, from 10:00 a.m. to noon at Heritage Funeral Home of the Big Bend. Graveside services will follow at 2:00 p.m. at East Hill Cemetery in Fort Stockton.

The Prowlers claimed their second-largest win of the season in terms of scoring margin on Tuesday at home against Lake View. Senior Eliana Mata led Fort Stockton to a 47-29 win with a season-high 14 points.
