At a June 14 Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee meeting, environmentalists warned that the Colorado River’s reservoir level drop might bring dramatic cuts to water deliveries provided to the seven states dependent on the river. Those states are Colorado, California, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Arizona, and Nevada.

Third through eighth grade students participated in the Fort Stockton Tennis Camp this past week at the tennis courts located on the high school campus. Fort Stockton head tennis coach Victor Garcia was the instructor at the camp. The camp ran from June 27-29 and had two separate instruction sessions. Ixzayana Lara Hernandez, of Fort Stockton at 5 p.m., officers from the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office apprehended Hernandez and was charged with assault causes bodily injury family violence. Hernandez received a $2,000 bond and is still in jail.

Centennial Bar Lounge nearing completion date

Construction at the Centennial Bar Lounge, located at the corner of Second and Main Street in Fort Stockton, has made significant progress in recent time and will soon be open to the public in the coming months.

Cowboys continue to dominate

The Alpine o6 Cowboys continued their dominant play by winning three of the final four games on the teams road trip to Weimar, Tucson, Ariz., and Roswell, N.M. Alpines record sits at 10-6 after the road trip, good for a second-place tie in the Pecos League Mountain Division.

After taking two of three from the Austin Weirdos at Parque Zaragoza, the Cowboys traveled two hours southeast to take on the Weimar Hormigas for two games at Strickland Field.

SRO decision upcoming for Fort Stockton ISD

The Fort Stockton Independent School District will hold their regular school board meeting on Thursday, June 30 starting at 6 p.m. at the district’s administrative building. The School Resource Officer Program for the 2022-2023 school year is one of the 12 action items on the agenda. At a special school board meeting on June 8, the school board discussed at length the number of school resource officers the district should employ.
