Every year since 1963, May has been the month to appreciate and celebrate the vitality and aspirations of older adults and their contributions and achievements. It is a proud tradition that shows our nation’s commitment to honor the value that elders continue to contribute to our communities.

This is the season for vacation bible school

Ecclesiastes 3:1,” For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under the heavens.” This is the time of year that thoughts turn to making and completing plans for vacation bible schools in their communities. VBS brings back many happy memories.

TEEA to host Senior Celebration May 6

All Pecos County residents age 55 and over are invited to the Senior Celebration at the Large Community Hall this Friday, May 6, for a free luncheon and presentation by several senior services. The event starts at 10:00 am, including the free lunch, and is sponsored by the Texas Extension Education Association (TEEA).

Frontier CASA hosts hamburger sale

Frontier CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates for Children) in Fort Stockton hosted a hamburger sale as a fundraisr at their office located at 101 N. Jackson St. People who attended were able to buy a $10 plate that included a burger, chips, drink, and a sweet. Sponsors of the event were the Pecos County Sheriff’s Office, K-Bobs Steakhouse, Porky’s Ice House, Pepsi, Millers Meat Market and Colt. Fort Stockton High names Valedictorian, Salutatorian

Fort Stockton High School announced the Valedictorian and the Salutatorian for the Class of 2022, along with students who earned academic achievements, at the Academic and Honor Awards Program on April 28 in the Weaver Auditorium. Mentoring students and athletes have long been a passion for new Fort Stockton Middle School Principal Sammy Soliz. It’s why the Morton, Texas native entered the career field as a teacher and coach 17 years ago.
