This year’s turnaround season for the Fort Stockton softball team represented a revitalization of the program’s dynasty that had rarely missed the postseason in the past decade.
When Jeremy Hickman received a phone call on Monday evening from Fort Stockton ISD Superintendent Dr. Gabriel Zamora, the Fort Stockton native was overcome with emotion after learning he was chosen to be the next head football coach and athletic director in his hometown.
Rosie Ramos was recognized for her outstanding and dedicated service as a county employee for the past 23 years on May 27 at the Precinct No. 1 headquarters. Commissioner Tom Chapman awarded the retiree with the plaque as she concluded her career with the county this month.

The Fort Stockton volleyball program held their annual summer camp from May 24-26 at the Special Events Center. The event featured the Little Prowler Camp (third through fifth grade), Middle School Prowler Camp (sixth through eighth grade), and the Freshman Prowler Camp.
Firefighters are looking to the skies for much-needed rain this week as crews continue battling wildfires across the state. Fires reported Sunday by the Texas A&M Forest Service were being fought in Brown, Taylor, Wilbarger, Llano, Schleicher and San Saba counties.
Angelo State University announced the students who achieved the Dean's List designation for the 2022 spring semester.
Former Fort Stockton High School Graduate Lindy Ochoa was named to the list. Buena Vista Graduates Carsyn Evans and Jordan Ward were also named to the university’s Dean’s List.

Adam Vasquez, of San Antonio at 11:25 a.m., officers from the Department of Public Safety apprehended Vasquez and he was charged with possession of marijuana less than two ounces. Vasquez received a $2,000 PR bond and was released the same day.

Fort Stockton High School Valedictorian Alexia Sanchez and Salutatorian Kaylee Soto were the two students in the senior class that gave speeches at the Fort Stockton ISD graduation ceremony on May 20 at the Special Events Center. Photos by Nathan Heuer
